Exact quantum spin dynamics and what it teaches us

What would never be allowed in mathematics is now a (justified?) trend in modern quantum many-body dynamics. The evaluation of a single example and the assumption that it is typical or generic allows one to deduce the behavior of a whole class of systems. Under given assumptions this yields a powerful scheme to investigate non-equilibrium properties such as equilibration or thermalization. In addition, it enables us to obtain thermal properties from pure quantum states numerically.
