Exciton-Phonon coupling in Perovskite nanocrystals

Excitons and phonons are important excitations in semiconductor materials. Excitons describe bound electron-hole pairs, while phonons are quantized vibrations of the crystal lattice. Understanding how these two interact is important for controlling the dynamics of semiconductor systems.
In this work, we studied the coupling between excitons and phonons in perovskite nanocrystals. Due to their small size, the interaction between the two becomes particularly strong. Using ultrashort laser pulses and photon-echo measurements, our experimental collaborators observed pronounced quantum oscillations between the coupled excitonic and phononic states.
The experiments were performed in the group of Ilya Akimov, and we contributed to the theoretical description of the observed dynamics.
