Congratulations to Quentin Richter

We congratulate Quentin Richter on successfully completing his Bachelor thesis on the topic: “SUPER in the Jaynes-Cummings Model: Dynamics of a two-level system in off-resonant configuration”.
In this research, Quentin delved into the physics of light-matter interaction, with a specific focus on the SUPER scheme. The SUPER scheme is an excitation method for a few-level quantum system using two off-resonant pulses. Because the population of the excited state oscillates like pendulum while still reaching full inversion, the scheme is called Swing-UP of quantum EmitteR population (SUPER).
The original publication introducing the SUPER scheme was well received and quickly experimentally realized as shown in this publication. In his thesis, Quentin adepted a fully quantum perspective on the SUPER scheme. He explored, whether in a Jaynes-Cummings-type Hamiltonian, a SUPER effect can be found. By performing numerical simulations and analytical analysis, Quentin showed that for specific resonance conditions, a full inversion of the quantum emitter is achieved.
His results give us a fresh understanding of how quantum systems work and will help in shaping future quantum networks based on photons.
